Meet the Therapist
Ashley Ottmer MA, C-TICP, NCC, C-PATP, LPC
If you've happened upon my website, I imagine you're struggling and hoping to find someone to help! A huge reason I do this work is because, like you, I too have struggled and needed therapy to assist me in getting back on track. I absolutely love this work. The opportunity to sit with folks that are often at their lowest and help them find themselves again is an honor and privilege I do not take lightly. I specialize in trauma work and operate from that lens in the therapeutic space. I have carried my own complex PTSD diagnosis, and am also proudly neurodivergent. I will always sit with you as a fellow human, real and raw. I also value respecting the fact that nobody knows you better than you know yourself, I am merely the support system for working through whatever is no longer serving you.
I am a certified trauma-informed care provider which is a fancy way of saying I've taken additional classes to ensure that I recognize all the ways trauma can manifest in a person's life, even if I cannot personally relate to all of them. I have experience working in an integrated medical setting as a mental health professional, so I am comfortable advocating for your needs with your medical providers if needed or coordinating care. I am also holistically inclined and carry a bachelors degree in nutrition that I am willing to integrate into your care, should you need it.
I am and always will be a safe space for the LGBTTSQIA++ population. I am a veteran and first responder's wife and I'm honored to serve those who have served or continue to serve in either of those demographics. I also really enjoy working with adolescent population.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, meridian tapping), and Brainspotting. I also have basic training in Trauma Informed-DBT, IFS, and am continuously pursuing additional trauma training to ensure the best quality care. I have experience working with individuals, co-parenting, couples, and groups. No matter what your needs are, I am here for you to support you as your therapist or to recommend another professional who will best meet your needs. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
